Welcome to Episode 32 of the Mind and Muse Crafts Podcast. In this episode I explain how and whyI have been sidetracked from my long term crochet projects by some other fun and delightful new ideas.  I have some finished projects to share and updates on those projects that I have been pressing on with. I also share some incoming yarn that has me excited about projects to come.

Projects, patterns and yarns mentioned in this episode:

Walking the talk and End of the Line:

1) The Cross-stitched Top I am wearing is based on a paid-for pattern that can be found at www.darngoodyarn.com/products/the-crossed-stitched-top-crochet-pattern.
I used Quince & Co Sparrow (sport weight organic linen) in the colorways: Little fern, Sans, Citron and Buttercup and a 2.25 mm crochet hook. The top is size S/M.  I blocked the top and then tumble dried it on low heat. The end result is very soft and has a wonderful drape! Love wearing it.

2) I was sidetracked this week from my long term crochet project by the idea of making a crochet ring. I made a flower following the instruction found at  http://tinashandicraft.blogspot.com/2017/01/3d-crochet-flower-no-7.html using 100% nylon thread by Omega (don’t know the color number, but it’s an orange-brown). I attached the flower to a band that I created by crocheting around a quartz donut disk and picking up 5 stitches on the side to create a band that was attached to the other side. I hope to write up a photo tutorial for this soon!

Pressing On:

1.  I continue to work on a dress to wear to my son’s wedding in October. The pattern is by Jenny King and was published at Annie’s Crochet (www.anniescatalog.com) and is called the Everlasting Wedding Dress. This is going to take me, still, a considerable amount of crochet time and I am hoping to finish in by next month. I am using King Cole’s Finesse (a cotton/silk blend) with a 4.5 mm hook.

 2) I have started my project for the Mischief Managed Mal hosted by crochetcakes.com/ I have chosen her “Vintage Wave” socks pattern (find it on her site). I am using a 3.5 mm hook and the Bellatrix colorway by https://littlebeanlovesyarn.com/ as my main color.

Dream Crochet:
I purchased a kit from Lion Brand yarns to make a vest as a Christmas gift. I will be using the Faux Fur Vest pattern by Mama in a Stitch. The yarn is Go For Faux in the Chinchilla colorway.

About 10 years ago I discovered that there was a crafty side to me. Since then, there have even been times when I considered taking up crafting as a full time job. But, I guess that is something I have heard most people who practice some craft say.  Someday... one day... Until then...  I guess I'll just blog about it. Thanks for being part of the crafty side of my life!
